Beaverton fishermen drown in Saginaw Bay

PINCONNINGThe bodies of three fishermen from Beaverton were found in the Saginaw Bay Wednesday by the U.S.Coast Guard Sector Detroit.The Coast Guard identified the men as Ronald G. Whitmer, 76, his brother Chris “Stanley” Whitmer, 71, and nephew Chris “L.C.” Whitmer II, 51.

GLADWINThunder on the Strip, the twice-a-year drag racing event hosted by the Gladwin Professional Business Association, returns Saturday to Zettel Memorial Airport.The event is expected to attract over 150 cars and over 1,500 spectators.

GLADWINGladwin Area Friends of the Theatre (GAFT) is preparing for its 2026 summer musical and is inviting the community to audition for Fiddler on the Roof, with performances scheduled at Gladwin High School this July.Auditions will take place at the GAFT Theatre, 524 E. Cedar Ave.
