PINCONNINGAfter coming up short in a competitive first game, the wheels came off and the brooms came out Friday when the Gladwin softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Pinconning.

SANFORDDodging raindrops all last week left the Beaverton softball team with only one outing and it did not go well.The Beavers lost both ends of a doubleheader at Meridian on Tuesday and neither game was close.“It was a tough night all around,” said Beaverton coach Aaron Wentworth.

TAWASFriday’s trip to Red Hawk Golf Course in Tawas marked the beginning of the season for the Gladwin golf team and Aiden McKenna was ready to rumble.The senior shot an eightover- par round of 79 to finish second in a field of 118 golfers. Luke Skayrd of Chesaning was first with a 76.

BEAVERTONThe game time temperatures have been pretty low, but the Beaverton softball team got off to a hot start anyway last week, winning five of the first six games of the season.The fun began on Wednesday when the Beavers swept a doubleheader from Lake City.

BEAVERTONBeaverton hosted Gladwin and Coleman Friday afternoon for the Dust the Rust middle school track meet to open the season.In the boys’ meet, Gladwin’s throwers had a big day with Michael Brasseur first in the shot put with a 44’9.5” effort. Liam Pohlman was second at 43’4.
