GBCFD at Christ the King May 20

GLADWIN On Saturday, April 15, in the parking lot of Christ the King Lutheran Church, there was another Gladwin/Beaverton Community Food Distribution (GBCFD). Almost 21,000 pounds of food from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan was passed out to 249 households and 649 household members.

GLADWIN The United Methodist’s Men’s Club (UMM) will hold a Meatloaf Dinner Friday, April 28 at the New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 309 S. M-18 in Gladwin, to raise money for its annual “Boots for Kids” Project.

LANSING Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the appointments of Ms. Rhonda Welburn and Ms. Rita Brown to the State Transportation Commission. Rhonda Welburn, of Detroit, is a retired member of Dickinson Wright, PLLC, where she began practicing of law in 1995.

Amtrak rolls out new rail cars for Michigan routes

LANSING Amtrak has updated coaches for Midwest routes, including 19 Venture cars for the three routes in Michigan.
Nakiah C., a seventh grader from Deep Creek Middle School on Eleuthera, The Bahamas was selected as the 2023 Kirtland’s Warbler Young Artists Contest first place winner. This year’s contest saw 900 entries, which is an increase over previous years.
