GOP to meet July 18 at Riverwalk Place

GLADWIN The Gladwin County Republican’s public meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 18, 6 p.m., at Riverwalk Place, 777 West Cedar Avenue in Gladwin. They will discuss the proposed Thought Crime bill, the overreach on Prop 2, and the upcoming millage on August 8. All are welcome to attend.

Man arrested for carrying a firearm while intoxicated

On July 5, the Gladwin City Police Department was dispatched to North Park for two males and a female trying to talk with a 14-year-old, one of them possibly carrying a firearm. Dispatch advised officers that the same people were previously at 1305 North Spring Street, Lot 61.
On July 9, the Gladwin County Fair Parade went down Main Street. There were many different parade floats, demolition derby cars, and horses that were in the parade. The Gladwin County Fair began Tuesday, July 11, and will continue through Saturday, July 15.

Gladwin County Fair in full swing through Saturday

July 11, was the first official day of the Gladwin County Fair. The Merchant Buildings opened, fair goers were able to ride the rides, and the main event was the Go Cart Races. If you missed yesterday’s events there are plenty more to come throughout the fair week.

On Thursday, July 6, at the request of the Beaverton Police Department, multiple Michigan State Police vehicles, including a Marine Service Team vehicle, gathered on the side of West Brown Street overlooking Ross Lake in search of evidence related to a homicide investigation.

On July 11, the Gladwin County Commissioners held their first meeting of the month. A representative from the Michigan State University (MSU) Extension was at the meeting and spoke about the renewal of the MSU Extension millage renewal on the August 8 ballot.

Back Door Deli have a soft opening over holiday weekend

GLADWIN This past weekend, the Back Door Deli restaurant did a soft opening for their new storefront. Assuring me that their food won’t be changing, they plan on adding a place in the front of the store to sit down to eat and order coffee and ice cream.

GLADWIN COUNTY The Community Christian Choir, under the leadership of Barb Grice, and the direction of Tiffany Crawford, will be presenting a patriotic concert, “Let Freedom Sing!”.
