LINWOODThis last Friday evening, July 24, Opening Ceremonies were held for the Michigan Class AA American Legion State Tournament held at Adrian College. Linwood’s first game was held on Saturday versus Adrian Post 275. Linwood Post 239 won 9-4. Carter McLaren was the winning pitcher, going 5.

LINWOODThis last Wednesday, July 15, was the beginning of Zone 4 American Legion Tournament held at Northwood University.Linwood’s first game was held at Northwood University’s Gerace Stadium versus Bay City Post 18.

LANSINGMichigan Department of Natural Resources officials are investigating a lake sturgeon that was found on Durham Road in Whitehall (Muskegon County), just south of the White River access.The 71-inch fish was dumped on the road between midnight and 5:30 a.m. Friday, July 17.
(A) The first number is the number of schools reporting sponsorship on the Sports Participation Survey, including primary and secondary schools in cooperative programs as of May 15, 2026. The second number indicates the number of schools that had girls playing on teams consisting primarily of boys. (B) The second number indicates the number of additional girls playing on teams consisting primarily of boys and entered in boys competition.

LINWOODWith an impressive five wins this past weekend Linwood Post 239 claimed the 2026 FAAST Summer Slam Championship. Linwood defeated MSA Gates 18U 10-2, SW Oakland Warriors 18U 4-3, Foutch Select 18U, 4-3, Brighton Bulldogs 12-1 and Foutch Select in the Championship Game Sunday 13-7.
