Donald E. Courneya

Donald E. Courneya, age 87, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away July 10, 2026, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House of North Idaho. He was born on Jan. 7, 1939, in Standish, Michigan, to Ernest and Estelle Courneya.

Donald married Anna Lee Burr on January 9, 1965. Together they raised their only daughter in Beaverton, Michigan, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage, traveling with friends, and spending time with family. Donald worked as an electrician at Brown Machine, in Beaverton, Michigan for 36 years and retired in 2000. In July of 2025, Donald and Anna (Annie) moved to Hayden, Idaho to be close to their daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife, Anna (Annie); their daughter, Ann Marie (Steve) Sluka; grandchildren: Jacob (Bree Ferguson) Sluka, Michael (Stephanie) Sluka; great-grandchildren: Claira Sluka, Rylen Sluka, Luke Sluka; brothers: Jim (Andi) Courneya of Gladwin, Michigan and Bill (Cheryl) Courneya of Clio, Michigan; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Donald will always be remembered for his deep devotion to his family. There was nothing that made him happier than watching his great-grandchildren play and laugh.
