Marilyn Joan Cameron
Marilyn Joan Cameron, a pillar of love and faith, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on November 16, 1935, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, to the late Ernest and Elda (Frosch) Zelt, Marilyn’s life was a testament to her enduring spirit and unwavering commitment to her family.
In 1956 Marilyn married the love of her life, Dean Cameron. Before beginning their family, they worked side by side to build the home which to this day continues to be the center of family times. Marilyn and Dean were blessed with three sons: Scott (April), Ricky Lee (Donna), and Todd (Susan). Dean’s passing in 1977 was a deep loss for Marilyn. She worked tirelessly to ensure her sons had everything they needed and became the heart and soul of her family. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with them.
Marilyn’s legacy is lovingly carried on by her children and grandchildren: Tyler, Curtis, Alex (Kevan), Caroline, Dean, Norman and Ernest; along with her great-grandchildren: Layla and Tristin.
Each of them was touched by her loving nature and will forever carry forward her lessons of hard work and devotion.
Marilyn was the oldest of nine children. She was a cherished sister to Linda (Richard) Esiline, Judy (Terry) Morse, Donald (Sally) Zelt, Vern (Renee) Zelt, and Larry (Mary Beth) Zelt. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Dennis, Jake and Harvey (Fay).
For 42 years, Marilyn served the U.S. government in the ASCS offices with dedication and excellence. Her work was more than a job; it was a reflection of her commitment to serving others.
An active member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marilyn’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She lived her beliefs through her actions, offering a helping hand and a listening ear to anyone.
Her faith-filled presence will be profoundly missed by her church family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Marilyn’s interests were a mirror of her love for her family. She was an exceptional cook and baker, known for her delicious recipes, especially chocolate chip cookies, roasters of fried chicken and pies that were a staple at family gatherings. Her passion for gardening and tending to her yard was endless. The Zelt family reunions were made all the more special with Marilyn’s involvement, as she cherished these moments of togetherness and celebration. Marilyn’s home was a reflection of her caring nature, always welcoming and filled with warmth and endless food. Described as loving, faith-filled, and thoughtful, Marilyn’s impact on her family was profound. Her gentle spirit will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Adam Flanick presiding. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Dean.
Family and friends are welcome to share their condolences and fond memories at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin Chapel on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
