John Rountree

John Rountree

John Rountree was born November 21, 1938, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Frank and Rose Rountree.

John graduated from Gladwin High School, where he lettered in football, and baseball. He was later inducted into the high school hall of fame. John was also a golden glove boxing champion at his weight class.

After high school John attended Alma college and then entered the US Army, where he continued to play football, baseball, and box. After his time in the service John married Bethany Hughes, they built a house with the help of friends and family in Goodrich, Michigan.

After living several years in South Carolina and Pennsylvania they moved back to Michigan where they had a house built less than a mile from his childhood home. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing with his many friends in the area.

John is survived by his sons: Mike Rountree (Natalie) of Brighton, and Dr. Patrick Rountree of Munich, Germany; special friend, Shirley Crowley; four grandchildren: Michael Alan, Jaden, Emma, Leah: two great-grandchildren: Kinglsey, and Everly Reign.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Bethany; sisters: Mary Lou Walker, and Bonnie Black.

Per John’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
