Judy Ann Hale Slaughter
Judy Ann Hale Slaughter, age 70, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024. Originally from Argentine, Michigan, Judy was born and raised in Gladwin County, the cherished daughter of Vern and Dorothy Hale. Judy’s life was a testament to love and kindness. She adored her family deeply, her son, Travis McGivern; daughter, Tina Lewis; and her beloved grandchildren. Judy’s heart overflowed with joy whenever she was with them, and she cherished every moment spent together. In addition to her roles as a loving mother and grandmother, Judy pursued her passions with enthusiasm and creativity. She spent two adventurous years in Germany and graduated from Grand Blanc High School. Judy’s talent in baking was renowned, as she owned and operated two very successful bakeries, delighting customers with her beautifully crafted cakes and delicious treats, which were featured in wedding and baking magazines across the country. Beyond baking, Judy found joy in sewing and quilting alongside her sisters, creating treasured pieces that will forever hold memories of their time together. She was also a proud member of the Red Hatters of Linden, Michigan, where she formed enduring friendships and shared many laughs.
Judy also dedicated her time to volunteering in her community, where her caring spirit brightened the lives of those around her.
Judy is survived by her husband, John; her children: Travis and Tina; stepchildren: Stacey and Debbie; and a large extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers: Bill, Les, James, and Rick. Judy’s memory will live on in the hearts of her siblings: Barbara (Don) Hagenbaugh of Beaverton, Helen (Jesse) Hale of Flint, and Bea Brubaker of Beaverton – who will forever cherish their sisterly bond. Cremation has been completed, and a memorial service to honor Judy’s life was held in Florida, organized by her beloved son, and sister Helen.
The family will be planning for a celebration of life memorial to be held in Michigan with friends and relatives, to celebrate the remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her warmth, love and generosity.
