Born in Midland, Michigan, to the late Floyd and Goldie (Jones) Owen, Shirley lived a life marked by deep familial bonds, a zest for life, and an unwavering spirit of independence.
Shirley’s journey began as a high school graduate in Midland. Her professional path led her to the Freeland Elevator, where she managed the books with precision and care. Later, she worked alongside her husband at Wallace Flooring & Repair, contributing significantly to the success of the family business.
The love story of Shirley and her high school sweetheart, Bill Wallace, was one for the ages. They were wed in California on August 15, 1959, while Bill was stationed at Camp Pendleton. Together, they navigated the waves of life for 62 wonderful years until Bill’s passing. Shirley also bid farewell to her brother, William Owen, but she leaves behind a legacy through her loving family.
Shirley’s memory will be cherished by her sons: Charles (and wife Susie Wiley) Wallace, Scott (and wife Cathy) Wallace, and Allen (and wife Susan) Wallace.
Her grandchildren: Kaitlyn (and husband Caleb) Moore, and Zachary Wallace, will miss her dearly.
An adventurous soul, Shirley was once a proud member of the Valkyrie Riders Motorcycle Club.
With William by her side, she traversed the landscapes of Canada and the United States, embracing the freedom of the open road.
Shirley’s passion for speed and excitement extended to racing cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles. Her love for these activities was only surpassed by the joy she found in being with people, especially her family.
In accordance with her wishes, Shirley’s family will gather privately to honor her life and legacy. Her memory will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the love that endures within the hearts of all who were touched by her remarkable presence.
