The brooms and the mercy rule came out last Tuesday when the Gladwin junior varsity baseball team swept rival Beaverton in a pair of five-inning games. The Flying G’s won the first game 12-2. Brady Demory was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts and also went 4-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Braeden Guzman was 3-for-3 wth three RBI and two runs. Gavin Bruner was 2-for-3 with a two-run double and a run scored. It was more of the same in a 12-1 victory in the second game. Ryan Quick did the heavy lifting offensively with three hits in four trips. He knocked in three runs and scored two. Demory had two RBI and scored three times. Guzman was the winning pitcher, allowing one hit and fanning seven.
