An inside perspective on Gladwin Football’s State Championship run
GLADWIN
Growing up as a kid involved in sports, there are certain moments that you always act out and picture in your mind. Whether it be hitting a walk home run, swishing a buzzer beater, scoring the clutch goal, or scoring a game winning touchdown, these possibilities send young kids imagination’s wild, hoping that someday, they may be able to accomplish what may seem to be only a far fetched dream. Similarly, for many people around Gladwin, the thought of their Flying G’s playing for a chance at a football state championship also seemed to be a far fetched dream. Sometimes however, far fetched dreams can become reality, and the 2022 Gladwin Football team made it their mission to fulfill those dreams.
This journey all started years ago when a group of third grade kids jumped into a sport that eventually would become their passion. Not everyone stayed, and some new members joined, but as I grew up alongside these kids, playing other sports with many of them, and enjoying the success we found in each sport, I, them, and our coaches started to notice that something special was brewing, especially on the gridiron.
