Coach Marc Jarstfer

2022 Jack Pine Coach of the Year

GLADWIN LYLE DANLEY

Marc Jarstfer, Gladwin Varsity football coach, won his second consecutive Jack Pine conference Coach of the Year this season. His Flying G’s went undefeated during the 2022 regular season and have just recently won their first regional title since 1998.

“I truly think it’s more of a staff award,” coach Jarstfer humbly replied when asked about being named Coach of the Year. “Obviously, my name goes on the award but I give our coaching staff a ton of credit. The whole staff puts in so much time and is truly top notch,” Jarstfer continued.

A coach is nothing without his supporting cast; a notion not lost on coach Jarstfer, praising his staff for all the hard work and dedication they put in for the success of this organization. “If people could see a glimpse into the preparation our staff does in a week in, week out basis. It is pretty incredible,” Jarstfer stated.

Coach Jarstfer also thanked his players. “You have to have good players, and willing players,” Jarstfer said. “Our players sacrifice a lot and are willing to do everything we ask them to do. Without that commitment and drive to be the best they can be, we wouldn’t be as successful as we have been,” Jarstfer finished.
