    SHEPHERD

    Five local Cross-Country runners extended their seasons an extra week by running in the 2022 MITCA Michigan Meet of Champions. Tessa Wohlschlegel of Beaverton along with Caleb Palmreuter, John Whitman, Elijah Christensen and Ben Verellen of Gladwin traveled to Shepherd high school Saturday, November 12 to compete in one of the six races offered based on their PR’s (three races for boys and three races for girls).

    Palmreuter and Christensen ran in the Boys Elite Open Race where they both PR’D by 20 seconds. Palmreuter ran a 16:14.1 while Christensen ran a 16:33.8.

    Wohlschlegel competed in the Girls All Comers Open Race where she PR’D by over 25 seconds, running a 20:29.5.

    Whitman and Verellen participated in the Boys All Comers Open Race and both ran excellent times. Verellen PR’D by nearly 20 seconds running a 17:40.9. Whitman ran his second fastest race ever (17:58.3), missing a PR by 5 seconds.
