Joan Gail Balmforth
Joan Gail Balmforth, age 81, of Alger, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2026. She was born on June 20, 1945, the daughter of Preston and Helen (King) Warden, in Coloma, MI. Joan worked as a Dispatcher in Genesee County for many years until her retirement. On June 3, 1995, she married Glenn Balmforth. Together, they shared 31 years filled with love and cherished memories.
Joan was an active member in her communities. She was a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion and an auxiliary member of both the Eagle’s Club and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed cooking and traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, cherishing the moments she spent with them.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; children: Mike Taylor, Laurie Taylor (Gary), and Lisa (Gene) Hall; step-daughters: Sherry (David) Rozak and Sara (Dean) Livi; grandchildren: Gary, Robert, Angie, Sarah, Rachel, Melissa, Samantha, Gavin, and Sophia; greatgrandchildren: Monroe, Kamden, Jasse, Jack, and Sadie; brothers: Duane Warden and Max Warden; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Helen.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026 from 1-3 p.m. at the Secord Lake Eagles Club.
