He was known not only for his craftsmanship, but also for the trust and respect he inspired in those who worked with him and those he served.
Greg was a loving and devoted partner to Randy Bierlein, and together they built a life in Gladwin that spanned more than four decades. Their relationship was one of companionship, laughter, resilience, and quiet devotion, earning the admiration and respect of all who knew them. Through every challenge and every success, they stood side by side, creating a home filled with warmth, humor, and unconditional support. Greg treasured the simple and meaningful moments of daily life, especially the meals they shared, the pictures he loved to pass along to others, and the everyday routines that, over the years, became a remarkable life together.
Greg also enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Buck, who was a beloved part of his life. His home was a place of warmth, humor, and connection, and he found happiness in the comfort of family and the presence of those closest to him.
He is survived by his life partner, Randy Bierlein; his sisters: Cookie Marshall and Jackie Marshall; and several nieces and nephews who will remember him with love. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer “Jake” Marshall; his grandmother, Melvina Marshall, who raised him; as well as by his brother, Jake Marshall; and his aunts: Mary Marshall and Barbara Messig.
The love and guidance of those who went before him remained an important part of his life and helped shape the man he became.
Greg had many interests that reflected his easygoing spirit and appreciation for life. He enjoyed playing poker, telling jokes, canoeing many of the rivers in Michigan, and gardening.
He found joy in the outdoors and in the quiet satisfaction of tending to the things he loved. He also enjoyed sharing family moments and celebrating the special meals that brought everyone together. His sense of humor, creativity, and warmth made him a memorable presence wherever he went.
