Walter E. Krompetz Jr.
Walter E. Krompetz Jr. age 88, of Gladwin, passed away on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026. He was born on April 12, 1937, the son of Walter E. Krompetz Sr. and Cleo Pelch, in Clare.
After retiring from Saginaw Steering Gear Walt pursued many hobbies and interests including; farming, trucking, and carpentry.
Throughout his life, Walter built several houses, barns, a sawmill, and a greenhouse. Walt loved growing vegetables and sharing them with his friends and family, whom he loved with all his heart. Walt enjoyed restoring antique Hudson cars, frequently entering and traveling to many car shows and bike rallies. His greatest passion was riding his motorcycle. In his lifetime he made several trips out west to include British Colombia and most recently with his son to visit his daughter in Montana. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do or fix. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Deidree Krompetz; children: Edward (Susan) Krompetz, Gail Leuenberger, Kelly (Jeff) Kruskie, Tommy (Kristina) Krompetz, and Steven Kobrzycki; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Angie Sweeney, Thomas Krompetz, and Donald Krompetz; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E Krompetz Sr; Cleo Pelch; son, Rodney Krompetz; grandson, Canvas Watson; brother, Stuart Krompetz; and son-in-law, Mike Leuenberger.
