Lyle Gary Brockway, age 81, of Gladwin passed away on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025. He was born on Jan. 14, 1944, the son of Cecil and Electa (Livingston) Brockway, in Flint.
Lyle loved his job as a member of the Michigan State Police for 27 years before his retirement in 1992. On May 3, 1974, he married the love of his life, Charlotte Thom. Together, they shared 51 years filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.
Lyle was a jack-of-alltrades, often spending time woodworking, building kitchens, beekeeping, and even farming. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and guns – something he passed onto his sons. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Charlotte; children: Charlie Brockway, Richard Brockway, Kelly (Mike) Johnson, Patty Waldhouse, Dana Emory, and Brett (Nicole) Brockway; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, 2 p.m., at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, in Gladwin. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
