David John “Tank” Adler

David John “Tank” Adler, age 75, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Medilodge in Cheboygan, MI. A private family gathering will occur at a later date.

David was born in Newberry, MI on Aug. 16, 1950.

The eldest child of Walter and Lucille (Friske) Adler.

He graduated from Newberry High with the class of 1968.

David attended Ford Forestry School and worked for the City of Ann Arbor Tree Service. He also worked for the Michigan Department of Mental Health/Corrections at various locations including: Newberry State Hospital, Ypsilanti State Hospital, Yorkwood, Maxey Boys Reform School and the Forensic Center. He retired in 1999.

David met his wife, Linda, while working in Ypsilanti in 1980. They were married on Jan. 22, 1982 in Ann Arbor. After Linda’s retirement in 2001, they moved to Gladwin and built a hobby farm home, which they enjoyed until July 2023, when they moved into Straits Area Senior Living Community in St. Ignace.

David is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Campbell/Helms) of 43 years; siblings: Bonnie (John) Williams of Sterling Heights, MI; Judy (Bob) Brown of Cheboygan, MI; Robert Adler of Anchorage, AK/Newberry, MI; and Susie (Richard) Langley of Rexton, MI; step-son, Stan (Chris) Helms of St. Ignace; and grandsons: James and Jared Helms of Detroit.

The family of David Adler gives the utmost appreciation to the staff at Straits Area Senior Living Community and Medilodge for their dedication and compassion.
