Work continues at Secord Dam on the primary spillway. The two main areas of construction are demolition of one of the spillway bays and placing concrete in the downstream lower slab. In the spillway chute, crews are installing baffle blocks, which are big blocks of concrete used to reduce the force of water as it flows. Crews also started to install the downstream steps.

LANSINGThe Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) is reporting Michigan’s first case of eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) in a domestic animal in 2025.The disease was detected in a horse from Benzie County that was unvaccinated against EEE.
