Here’s to a better 2026

Here we are, ready to wrap up another year. And there’s a new one just around the corner. What can we learn from this year to help us in the next one?Many seniors have had a rough time financially, and it doesn’t look as though things are going to get better soon.

CMDHD closed for holidays

MT. PLEASANTCentral Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) offices will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, through Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Regular services will resume on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

GLADWINMid Michigan Community Action is hosting a free drive-thru food distribution event at the Gladwin County Fairgrounds on Friday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no pre-registration or age requirements.

FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO BLAZE ON GROUT ROAD

Gladwin Rural-Urban and Beaverton firefighters responded to a fire in a garage on Grout Road last Tuesday afternoon. The owner was in the garage starting up his 1979 Corvette when smoke began coming out of the engine. He attempted to put the fire out himself, but was unsuccessful.

Gladwin man arraigned for CSC

GLADWINThe Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Scott Andrew Webb, 47, on a Criminal Sexual Conduct fourth degree warrant issued out of the 80th District Court on Nov. 25.Webb, of Gladwin, was arrested at his residence and transported to the Gladwin Jail without incident.

Woman arrested for attempted murder

GLADWINGladwin County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Billings Township on Sunday night for a reported domestic assault.Upon arrival, deputies located a Beaverton man in his 50’s who was bleeding from multiple wounds on his body.
