Memorial Day services honor the fallen

GLADWIN COUNTYMemorial Day was celebrated on Monday with parades through town and solemn ceremonies held at the War Memorial in Gladwin and the Veterans Memorial in Ross Lake Park in Beaverton.James Volant, Commander of American Legion Post 171, led the presentation in Gladwin.

Planning Commission to meet June 4

GLADWIN COUNTYThe Gladwin County Planning Commision has a scheduled meeting on June 4, 1 p.m., at the Gladwin County Courthouse located at 401 W. Cedar Street in Gladwin. It will be held in the Gladwin County Commissioners Chambers on the third floor. Evaluation of the Master Plan will take place.

Food distribution at Christ the King

There was another successful Gladwin/Beaverton Community Food Distribution (GBCFD) in the parking lot of Christ the King Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Almost 16,000 pounds of food from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan was passed out to 229 households and 530 household members.

Beaverton Alumni Association to meet

Thunder rumbles on the strip

GLADWINThunder on the Strip returned to Zettel Memorial Airport Saturday. The popular drag racing event drew 128 drivers to the “Christmas Tree” at the starting line for a total of 358 races.The fastest speed posted on the day was 126.43 miles per hour on the quarter-mile strip of runway.
