Quilt show entries sought for Standish Quilt Show

STANDISHEntries are being sought for the Northeast Michigan Arts Council’s 33rd Annual Quilt Show slated for Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2026.There is no entry fee, nor are exhibitors required to have made their quilts. A quilt could have been received as a gift or a family heirloom.

The Strive For 5 is a school-wide competition for Gladwin High students to encourage perfect attendance. A total of 32 accomplished that goal and, on Monday, were rewarded. The prize was the opportunity to pie-a-teacher.
The Gladwin American Legion Post 171 and Auxillary went to the area assisted living homes and presented veterans there with a Christmas package and spoke to them about their military service. The Veterans were thanked for their service and saluted. The homes visited were: Gladwin Pines, Gladwin Living and Rehab, The Brook, Horizon, and Heavenly Homestead. This was initiated last year with the help of Cheryl Steele, from West Branch, and we wanted to continue it as it is a very rewarding experience.

Delta College accepting scholarship applications

FREELANDHundreds of scholarships are awarded annually through the Delta College Foundation, made possible by the generosity of donors. Last year, $1,107,500 was awarded to 948 students – 83% of all applicants! The deadline to apply is Feb. 4, 2026.
