Gladwin’s Verellen runs to All-State honors
Gladwin’s Ben Verellen (left) earned All-State honors in Division 2 and Beaverton’s Gage Spencer posted the fourth-fastest time in school history in Division 3 at the finals Saturday at MIS.

If you want to be All-State in cross country, you have to earn your way to the state finals and then you have one shot to crack the top 30 and claim your prize.
Gladwin senior Ben Verellen ran second at the regional to earn a spot and then placed 27th in a time of 15:58.4 Saturday at the Division 2 State Meet at Michigan International Speedway to bring home the coveted award.
