HAMILTONJunior Myles Robinson turned in the best performance of the four Gladwin athletes who qualified for Saturday’s Division 2 boys’ state track meet at Hamilton.Robinson clocked the 10th-best time in the 400-meter run when he finished in 50.

HAMILTONMakenzie Price brought home a silver medal from the Division 2 state track meet Saturday at Hamilton.The senior was in first place after two throws in the discus, but was overtaken by Aubree Deshetsky from North Branch, who wound up placing first with a 148’10” effort.

BEAVERTONWay back in April, the Beaverton baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Meridian.Both games were close, as befitting the rivalry between the two schools, with the Mustangs taking the opener 4-2 and then winning the nightcap 2-1 in just four innings of action due to conditions.

GLADWINThe high school softball season came to an end for local fans Saturday as both Gladwin and Beaverton bowed out of the state tournament.The Flying G’s hosted a Divsion 2 district and were knocked out of the first game in four innings when Ogemaw Heights advanced with a 15-0 victory.

BEAVERTONThree quick goals set the tone and the Tawas soccer team rode the wave of momentum to a 6-1 victory over Beaverton last Tuesday in the semifinals of the Division 4 district tournament.

GJHS girls fifth at regional

CADILLACThe Gladwin Junior High girls’ track team placed fifth with 49 points at last Wednesday’s Division 2 regional at Cadillac. Chippewa Hills won the team title with 174, followed by Shepherd with 101, Kingsley with 89, Surline with 79 and then the Flying G’s.
