Drivers have been racing on the ice at Ross Lake since the 1960s and they were back at it Sunday, plowing through the course after getting pre-race instructions from Ashley DuPree.

Ross Lake hosted the first of three ice races slated for this winter on Sunday and a field of 55 drivers were on hand to tackle the course in seven different classes.
The races were actually more like time trials as the cars completed a course laid out with pylons as opposed to wheel-to-wheel racing.
Everyone got one practice lap and four timed runs on the two-mile course, around the island…
