The Jack Pine Conference bowling teams began the new year Saturday at Snowbird Lanes in Harrison and both Gladwin and Beaverton got off to a good start with victories.
The Beavers improved to 2-2 on the season with a 17-13 victory over Harrison. They moved up to ninth place in the standings and carry a team average of 643.
The Flying G’s improved to 3-1 with a 24-6 win over St. Louis.
