Orval W. Grove
Orval W. Grove, age 82 of Lake, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. Orval was born October 31, 1940 the son of Mervin and Lela (Parker) Grove.
He married his high school sweetheart Judy Klein in November of 1958.
Orval was a barber for over 50 years and considered his many clients as friends.
He lived a full life, enjoying family, John Deere tractors, motorcycle trips, snowmobiling and time at the lake.
Throughout his life, Orval believed and trusted in God’s promises, experiencing God’s strength, peace and love in his last days.
Orval is survived by his wife, Judy; three children, Melissa (Ray) O’Laughlin of Grand Rapids, Dirk (Sandy Panella) Grove of Lake, and Heather Ruemmler of Mt.
Pleasant; five grandchildren, Megan (Adam) Giroux of Apex, NC; Kara (Jon) Zavitz of Jenison, Ashley (Jeff Cantrell) Ruemmler of Stanton, Paige (Joel Blumenthal) Ruemmler of Issaquah, WA; and Hannah Ruemmler of Grand Rapids; eight great-grandchildren, Logan, Emery, Isla, Mason, Cohen, Callum, Scarlett and Marlow; sister, Valerie Cogswell-Hindman of Gladwin; and several nieces and nephews. Orval is preceded by both his parents, great-grandson, Jude DeCan; brother, Larry Grove and sister, Darlene Conner.
Services for Orval will be Thursday, September 7, 12 p.m., at the Mt. Pleasant Community Church with visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service. There will be visitation Wednesday, September 6 from 2-4 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made on behalf of Orval to MyMichigan Hospice.
