David Paul Nimphie

David Paul Nimphie, age 72, of Lapeer, died in his home on April 21, 2023. David was born on March 31, 1951 In Gladwin to parents Paul and Learuth Nimphie.

Dave married Anissa Vela on Valentine’s Day 2000.

After graduation from Beaverton High School Dave started his career as a Correctional Officer at Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer, retiring in 2010.

On an average Dave day, you would find him sitting on his porch on Lincoln Street, smoking a pipe and watching the world go by. That’s where he would be unless the Lions were playing on Sunday or a heavyweight bout was on. Always, quick with a smile and a wave, Dave was a beacon of light despite any of his struggles internally. Dave adored his family, watching his children and grandchildren grow was what made him most proud.

He was the kindest of souls who will forever be missed by his loving family, friends and neighbors.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Anissa Vela-Nimphie; his daughter, Amy (Islam) Elbedewy of Midland; grandchildren, Erika Pagtalunan, Jesse (Reilly) Pagtalunan, Zoey Pagtalunan, and their father, Drex Pagtalunan; great-grandchild, Vincent Pagtalunan; siblings, Darlene (Bill) Oard and Patrick (Kaye) Nimphie; uncle, Dave (LeAnne) Nimphie. Dave was preceded in death by his son, Davis James Nimphie in 2015; his sister, Barbara Fishtorn, and his aforementioned parents.
