Ernest Lee Winkles, age 90, of Gladwin, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center–Midland.
He was born on June 7,1932 in Tuckerman, Arkansas to the late Ernest E. and Tincy L. (Jacobs) Winkles. He met and married the love of his life Evelyn C. Parker on December 24, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan. Together they shared 71 years full of life, love, and laughter before her passing on January 9, 2023. Ernest served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and retired from General Motors – Chevrolet Plant as an electrician. He enjoyed the out of doors, hunting, camping, riding his motorcycle, restoring old cars but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Ernest is survived by his sons, Richard Lee Winkles and Charles Eugene Winkles; daughters, Deborah (Edmund) Catherine DeMatteis, and Crickett (Kenneth) Christine Jayska; his siblings, Tony Winkles and Millie (Tutor) Gee. He will also be dearly missed by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin Chapel, 135 North Silverleaf St, Gladwin, Michigan. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until time the of service on Wednesday. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, from 1-5 p.m. at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin Chapel. On Thursday at 11 a.m .committal and military honors will be held at Parkview Memorial Cemetery Livonia, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin Chapel.
