On December 3, 2022, God sent his angles to escort Bonnetta Kay Downing home. Bonnie, as she was known to family and friends, was born on December 30, 1936, to Myrl (Carlton) and Mildred (Harrison) Zimmerman from Gratiot County, Michigan.
On June 15,1955, Bonnie married her soul mate, her love, Richard (Dick) Downing, and they resided in Beaverton, Michigan.
During Bonnie and Dick’s 67 years of love filled marriage, Bonnie turned their house into a home filled with love as God blessed them with five children: Catherine, Susan, Jami, Richard, and Linda.
Bonnie’s faith in God was her rock and guide as she embraced life.
Bonnie’s family and extended family were her passion. She always became more energized when family, especially the babies, were around.
She tremendously enjoyed camping and the adventures it provided. Bonnie also liked to play card or dice games, sewing, making quilts and knitting.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Myrl (Carlton) and Mildred Zimmerman; sister, Karen Zimmerman; sister, Linda and her husband Mike Werbish; brother-in-law, Richard Gibson; sister-inlaw Janice Zimmerman and great grandson Ryder Carpenter.
Surviving Bonnie, with cherished memories are her loving husband, Richard Downing and Mikey their dog; children, Catherine Poole, Susan and Stanley Pope, Jami and Patrick McComb, Richard and Susan Downing, and Linda and Dave Linton. She leaves behind brothers, Jerry Zimmerman and Mark (Cherri) Zimmerman; sisters, Patty Gibson and Margaret (Doug) Elchuk.
Bonnie was blessed and adored her 19 grandchildren and a plethora of great and great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 3 p.m. at the Beaverton Baptist Church, Beaverton, MI. There will be a luncheon to follow at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. www.hallkokotovichfuneralhome. com.
