MARSP delivers candy to Gladwin County school staff

GLADWIN COUNTY

Recently, Kevin Brott and Lynn Skocelas, both Gladwin County Chapter members of the Michigan Association of School Personnel (MARSP), distributed close to 300 full-size candy bars with MARSP promotional labels to Gladwin Community School and Beaverton School District employees.

These employees included administrators, teachers, secretaries, and classroom support staff in appreciation of their contribution to Michigan public schools and to help promote their awareness of MARSP and its contribution in protecting their future retirement pension and health benefits.

Before the Harvest Lunch of MARSP-Gladwin County Chapter on October 24, chapter member Carol Cote was presented with a certificate of appreciation. She was recognized by the chapter for her steadfast commitment including her perfect attendance at chapter meetings in 2022 and helping before and after meetings to set-up and clean up.

Appreciation was also extended for her promotion of MARSP by recruiting others for membership including her late husband Harry who had for years regularly attended meetings and her daughter Maureen who is chapter secretary, prepares the lunch, and is membership cochairperson.

Also, before the lunch, members took a moment to respectfully remember those chapter members who had passed away since October 2021 namely, Joann Lyon, Frank Engler, Harry Cote, Gail Molesworth, Paul Turner, and Linda Buell. They also gave special remembrance to Gary Ritchie who for many years helped fund the annual $1,000-chapter high school scholarship which had been started by his mother Berniece Ritchie-Fries.

After the lunch, a work bee attached labels with chapter contact information and the MARSP mission to full-size candy bars.

The next Gladwin County Chapter meetings of MARSP will be April 24 and May 22, 2023.
