Kayci Jo (Cummings) Johnson

Kayci Jo (Cummings) Johnson, born Jan. 25, 1975 in Midland, Michigan, passed away on April 28, 2026, surrounded by family.

You know how when you meet a person and you think to yourself: “This is my person?!” Well, Kayci was that person! With a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye and her heart on her sleeve, Kayci brought joy all 51 of her years to family, friends, co-workers and clients. Kayci gave 110 percent to everything she did whether she was behind the grill at Downtown Pizzeria and Diner in Beaverton (35 years), driving the kids to school as a Beaverton school bus driver (24 years) or jeep’ing clients throughout Northern Michigan as a realtor; her most recent full-time passion! When Kayci wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with her wife, Misty, who she also jeep’ed all over Michigan! Her love for cooking extended well-beyond the restaurant door-often making meals for friends and random house guests when they were lucky enough to stumble in at dinner time. Kayci loved music, her “people”, cooking, animals, gardening, and time with family. Her zest for life will not be forgotten by those who loved and will continue to miss her. Her life was a winter sunset, ending way too soon.

Kayci treasured family and is survived by her wife, Misty; her parents, Timothy Cummings and Peggy Valentine; her children: Jorden Couture, Keeley Kotyk (Nathan), Skyler Johnson (Greg), and Colby Johnson; her bonus kids: Christopher Arnold (Alyshia), Autumn Rivard (John), and Benjamin Arnold. Her grandchildren: Braelyn, Marley, Piper, Joey, Bailey, Zane, Maeve, Ezra, Jack and Will. Her loving sisters: Kayti Strunk (Steve) and Krysta Strunk; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Loved by Kayci and preceded in death are her grandparents: Grandma Hutson, Grandma and Grandpa Cummings; stepdads: Mike Fitzpatrick, and John Valentine; her aunt, Patricia Owens; aunt, Susan Butler; uncle, Bob Cummings; and brother-inlaw, Mark Strunk.

Kayci wanted everyone to celebrate a life lived, not mourn the days lost. Family will be announcing the date and location of Kayci’s Life Celebration once a location and date is secured.
