According to a study published in January 2026 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), colorectal cancer is now the leading cancer cause of death in people under the age of 50.
In fact, this news was recently highlighted by the death of actor James Van Der Beek who passed away from his battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer at the age of 48. He was diagnosed in 2024.
