James Edward Von Ins

James Edward Von Ins, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 15. He was born in Columbus, OH, worked for several years in Bay City, MI and retired in Gladwin.

On June 3, 1999, he married Sherry Wood. Together they shared 26 years filled with love and cherished memories.

James lived a life defined by service, hard work, and a deep love for the outdoors. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, and served with honor during the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, he dedicated many years to a career at General Motors, from which he eventually retired. James is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry; his faithful dog, Lindy; children: Jimmy (Amy) and Candice; stepson, Scott (Cynthia); and his cherished grandchildren: Brandon, Madison, Danielle, and Ember.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy.

James was a man of many talents and simple pleasures. He was known as an avid Buckeye fan and having a deep love for the outdoors. He was often found fishing or feeding and watching the birds or out in the water on some kind of watercraft.

His hobbies included woodworking and coin collecting. One of his greatest joys was playing chef for family and friends, creating meals and memories that will be deeply missed. He was also a member of the VFW and the Big Boys Club of Gladwin.

The family would like to give special thanks to MyMichigan Hospice for their thoughtful care and support. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial with family is being planned in the near future.
