David D. Heinz, age 68, of Gladwin, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025. He was born on December 5, 1956, the son of Harvey and Marjorie (Pauquette) Heinz.
David was a proud veteran of the Unites States Navy, serving his country for eight years, receiving a humanitarian award and distinguished as an expert marksman.
Following his service, David worked as a postal carrier in Gladwin County for 30 years. David had a deep love for animals, he looked at them like family and always made sure to take care of them, even feeding the wild ones around his house.
He is survived by his aunt, Marilyn Heinz-Weiss; uncle, Russel Heinz; aunt, Susan Heinz-Harkrader; local first cousins: James Grogg, Elizabeth Grogg, Robby Heinz, and Michael Paquette. He will be greatly missed by his special long time pet buddy that he rescued, Booper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Marjorie; brother, John R.
“Jack” Heinz; and grandparents, Harvey and Helen Heinz of Pratt Lake, Gladwin, MI; and Fred and Evelyn Paquette of Sault St. Marie, MI.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time. He will be laid to rest at Ridge Cemetery in Gladwin. Anyone that would like to honor David’s memory, may make memorial contributions to The Cozy Cats Café and Rescue, Saginaw Road, Sanford, MI.
