Pastor Adam Flanick held his first service at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin on Sunday, Jan. 22. What began as a normal service, quickly turned into an event that Pastor Flanick and many of the congregation will carry with them for life.

County commission appoints Michael Visnaw to the board

The Gladwin County Board of Commissioners met on Friday, Jan. 27 to consider candidates for the open District 1 seat on the commission. Chairperson Karen Moore stated that she had recently received a letter from Michael Visnaw demonstrating his interest in the position.

Death of a Hot Sauce Salesman auditions slated for Feb. 6,7,8

Gladwin Area Friends of the Theatre (GAFT) will be holding auditions for their upcoming Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, February 6, 7, 8, from 6-8 p.m. at the Rivertown Inn. There are roles for six men and six women. This is a murder mystery so spicy you’ll die for it!

Gladwin Masonic Lodge donates check

The Gladwin Masonic Lodge #397, in conjunction with the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation, donated $200 to the Gladwin County Veterans Memorial fund. The current memorial is deteriorating and plans are to construct a replacement memorial in the near future.

BEAVERTON The Beaverton Area Business Association (BABA) held their annual meeting last Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the newly renovated Beaverton Tavern. The 2023 BABA officers were instated, and those present heard from some local businesses.

No break in sight for high egg prices, experts say

LANSING Egg prices have more than doubled in the last year, and relief from the skyrocketing costs is nowhere to be seen, some industry experts say. In December 2021, a dozen eggs cost $1.78 on average nationally. In December 2022, the cost was $4.25.
