Commissioners discuss equipment upgrades and spraying of lake beds

On Tuesday, June 13, the Gladwin County Board of Commissioners held the first of their two monthly meetings. Most of what was discussed at the meeting was general maintenance for equipment, all of which were approved.

Lights damaged on trail behind Riverwalk Place

On May 29, the Gladwin Police Department was contacted in regards to damaged lights on the Riverwalk Trail. Three lights had the plastic lenses broken out by rocks, and two of the lights top housings were missing as well. The missing housings are yet to be located.

GLADWIN On Monday, June 5, the city council held a meeting that focused heavily on new business. The first order was discussing the mayoral proclamation-CPR and AED awareness week. Mayor Sarah Kile deemed June 1 through June 7 national CPR and AED awareness week.

Wilderness Trail Fire update: Beaches, railroad and local roads reopened by Tuesday

LANSING Firefighters have the Wilderness Trail Fire located southeast of Grayling more than 90 percent contained. Recreation areas at Kneff Lake and Staley Lake are open after being closed while firefighters battled the wildfire.

On Friday, June 2, Gladwin City Police responded to a vehicle fire at The Brook of Gladwin retirement home around 2 p.m. According to the police report, the vehicle – a single-cab silver Chevrolet Silverado – had flames coming from both the cabin and from under the hood.
