There was a Gladwin business and professional association (GBPA) meeting on June 7, discussing the scheduled upcoming events for 2023. The arts and crafts festival will be in Gladwin City Park and the Sidewalk Days event in downtown Gladwin, both on July 8.

On June 7, Serendipite Organiques, located at 111 E. Cedar Avenue, held a celebration for their eleven year anniversary. I had the opportunity to sit down with owner Teri Kelley to talk about the celebration, plans for the future, and how far they have come as a business.

The Ustrnul family came to this continent in the late 1800s, and began to show up on property records in Gladwin County around 1910, and by 1912 became active in the milling business in Sherman Township on Sugar River Road about a mile east of Sharkeyville.

To the Editor: To all, I write today without a name. I write without a name for the person shot and killed in Beaverton on June 6. Nevertheless this person has a name – a place in life itself. Therefore, I write a prayer, a prayer of thanksgiving for this person.
