Earth Day Event at GHS April 18

GLADWINThe Gladwin County Master Gardeners along with the Butterfly Kaleidoscope Garden Club invites you to an evening of education and fun on Thursday, April 18 at the Gladwin High School. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and classes begin at 5 p.m. This is a free event to the community.

Beaverton Schools and superintendent part ways

Beginning April 1, Beaverton Schools will have an interim superintendent.BThe change came during a Beaverton Schools Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, March 20 when both the Beaverton Schools Board of Education and Superintendent Joseph Passalacqua agreed to part ways.

25th annual Gladwin County Easter egg hunt slated March 30

The Gladwin Business and Professional Association (GBPA) are putting on the 25th annual Gladwin County Easter egg hunt.It will take place on Saturday, March 30 at 11 a.m at the Gladwin City Park.Easter eggs will be filled with candy and there will be games for each age bracket.

Small punishments for scammers

What always stands out, at least to me, are the low penalties for the criminals who steal from veterans and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The number of scams seems to grow, and one wonders if it’s because thieves don’t perceive there to be much punishment if they should be caught.

A LOOK BACK IN TIME

As immigrants streamed to American shores, they often settled in communities with others of similar background. This created ethnic enclaves throughout the nation, and that included Gladwin County.

Making big decisions

Sometimes we need to make tough decisions. We don’t want to. We want to wake up and find the problem is resolved. But we can’t do that, and we know it.
