The winter lake level hold was lifted, and we started to raise Sanford Lake level on May 1. The lake is now at an elevation of 630.0 feet (within legal level range) with six inches to go until it reaches the maximum range of Sanford’s legal level (630.5 feet).

The Gladwin County Rural Urban Fire Department, along with firemen from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, responded to a grass fire in Sherman Township Monday. The fire was started by a downed power line and burned 22 acres from Grass Lake to Blue Lake.
