The Nature Conservancy’s 2023 Photo Contest

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has announced an expansion of its renowned global Photo Contest to include double the number of categories and local prizes for photos taken in Michigan. TNC will begin accepting Photo Contest entries Aug. 30 through Sept. 29 and there is no cost to enter.

$3.6 million in grants available for invasive species projects in Michigan

Michigan’s Invasive Species Grant Program is now accepting proposals for the 2023 funding cycle, with an anticipated $3.6 million available to applicants.

GLADWIN COUNTY n the parking lot of Christ the King Lutheran Church, there was another Gladwin/ Beaverton Community Food Distribution (GBCFD) on Saturday, August 19. Almost 22,000 pounds of food from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan was passed out to about 220 households.

During normal times, I simply sit down in my “Comfy Chair” and fall asleep within minutes if napping is my goal. If not, I can watch TV, daydream, or just relentlessly pet my dogs. Lately, I have had some difficulty falling asleep at naptime or bedtime.

Tailgate event planned in Beaverton

GLADWIN COUNTY Mid Michigan College is hosting a tailgate event and scholarship giveaway at the Beaverton versus Clare varsity football game on Friday, September 8 in Beaverton. College representatives and current students will be at the field starting at 6 p.m.
