MT. PLEASANTCentral Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) will host two Save a Life Day events on Thursday, Sept.24, 2026. In Mt. Pleasant, join us from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Island Park. In Harrison, join us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Harrison Shopping Center parking lot.

GLADWIN COUNTYThe Gladwin/Beaverton Community Food Distribution (GBCFD) will be hosting it’s next distribution on Sept. 19, 2026 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 S.M-18, Gladwin.Address verification will be required for all food recipients.The handing out of food, will begin about 10 a.m.
The Little Forks Conservancy works to permanently protect and improve natural environments in Mid-Michigan by leading and inspiring actions that conserve vital habitats and waterways for the benefit of our entire community. The Conservancy has helped private landowners protect nearly 4,000 acres in Mid-Michigan, including 23 miles of waterways and shoreline.

A time capsule to be opened in 50 years in conjunction with the 300th birthday of the United States is being compiled in Gladwin. Residents are invited to drop off items to be potentially stored in the capsule at the Gladwin Historical Society, which is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

GLADWINThere will be a Versiti blood drive at the Gladwin Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 2336 M-61 on Oct. 1. The blood drive will begin at 12 p.m. and end at 6 p.m.
Pictured is Edenville Dam construction in 1924. Upon completion, it would retain a summer-time pond at 675.8 feet, creating Wixom Lake in the river valley of the Tittabawassee and Tobacco rivers. The dam held for 95 years – the failure was of the embankment that catastrophically collapsed on May 19, 2020.
