Gladwin boys win JPC bowling title; Beaverton girls second

BY SCOTT SALOWICH SANFORD After rolling through the Jack Pine Conference dual meet season with a perfect 7-0 record, the Gladwin boys’ bowling team locked up the outright title Sunday by winning the JPC Team Challenge at Northern Lights Lanes in Sanford.

GLADWIN COUNTY March Madness is getting an early start this year as the boys’ basketball state tournament will tip off on Monday while it’s still February. Gladwin will host a Division 2 tournament and the Flying G’s will play in the opening game, taking on Ogemaw Heights Monday at 7 p.m.

GLADWIN Two days after a tough loss the Gladwin girls’ basketball team got well soon and rolled to a 53-13 victory over visiting Pinconning Friday night. “It was a great bounceback game and that’s something we really needed,” said Flying G’s coach Nic Taratuta.
