BEAVERTONOn a night when it seemed like the entire town showed up early to honor Roy Johnston in his final home game coaching the Beaverton boys’ basketball team, the opening act proved to be quite a show as well.

Gladwin wrestlers Izzy Searfoss, Tricia Pyrzewski and Jade Sheltraw won regional medals and advanced to this weekend’s girls’ state meet at Ford Field in Detroit.

GLADWINCOUNTY BOYSThe Gladwin junior varsity boys’ basketball team wrapped up an outstanding regular season with a 41-25 victory over visiting rival Beaverton Thursday night.The Flying G’s led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter and then opened up a 28-12 halftime lead that was never in jeopardy.

Gladwin’s eighth grade boys basketball wrapped up their season on Saturday, Feruary 24, in Shepherd. They went 10-0 in the regular season, winning two nail biters that came down to the last minute against Shepherd. The team went to Shepherd for the Jack Pine Conference Jr.
