Easton Hess, 15-years-old, took a 5x6 elk while hunting with his dad in Atlanta, MI. A huge thank you goes out to Canada Creek Elk Guides for their guidance and for their help during this hunt. The elk weighed in just under 800 pounds dressed. He shot it with his 30.06. An amazing experience.

ST. LOUISThe Beaverton junior varsity football team pulled out a tough 14-8 victory at St. Louis Thursday night.The Sharks took a 6-0 lead by scoring on their opening drive, but the Beavers held them out of the end zone the rest of the way.

SHEPHERDThree runners in the top 10 lifted the Gladwin boys’ cross country team to a second-place finish in the Blue Division of the Blue Jay Invitational Saturday at Shepherd.Cedar Springs won with 85 points, followed by the locals with 102 and Grand Rapids Catholic Central with 128.

SANFORDAgreat start and a big play at the end were not enough for the Beaverton football team Friday night at Meridian.The Beavers won the coin toss, took the kickoff, scored a touchdown and added the two-point conversion to open the scoring, then hit a 32-yard touchdown pass to close it.
