GLADWINThe 9 a.m. Wednesday morning “Fellas” golf league at Lakeside Golf Course is welcoming new players. This is a great nine hole league with fun days, outings and no need to make up a round if you miss a week – just show up when you can play.It will run April 29 through Sept. 9, 2026.

Beavers soccer team splits shutouts

BEAVERTONBoth games were shutouts and half of them worked out nicely for the Beaverton soccer team last week.On Tuesday, the Beavers won 2-0 at Ogemaw Heights.

Gladwin Junior High School boys win invite

ALMAThe Gladwin Junior HighSchool boys’ track team had another big week, knocking off visiting Clare on Tuesday and then placing first by one thin point at the Panther Classic at Alma on Friday.

ST. LOUISThe first Jack Pine Conference meet of the season was a dream for the Gladwin golf team.The Flying G’s topped the field of seven with a team total of 175 at Hidden Oaks in St. Louis last Monday.“It was a great first showing in our conference,” said Gladwin coach Nic Taratuta.

In the first game of the season, the Gladwin soccer team lost 7-1 to Standish, the squad everyone expected to rampage through the Jack Pine Conference for a second straight year.

MIDLANDThe preseason predictions lived up to the billing last Wednesday when the Gladwin girls’ track team pulled out a tough 85-77 victory over host Bullock Creek in a Jack Pine Conference dual meet.

BEAVERTON big break.A A quick goal. Another goal.And then one more. Before you knew it, the Beaverton soccer team was leading visiting Gladwin 3-0 and on its way to a 4-1 victory last Tuesday, the first for the Beavers over the Flying G’s in three years of varsity competition in the sport.
