BY SCOTT SALOWICH GLADWINAgroup of 10 athletes will represent the Gladwin boys’ track team Saturday at the MHSAA Divsion 2 Finals at Hamilton.Trace Corlew qualified in the long jump with his school record breaking leap of 22’6” earlier in the season.

GLADWINThe Sharks attacked last Tuesday as visiting St. Louis swept a doubleheader from the Gladwin softball team with an offensive feeding frenzy.The visitors out-slugged the home team 21-13 in the first game.Lainey Nash was the losing pitcher, giving up nine earned runs in seven innings of work.

GJHS girls sixth at regional track meet

BRETHRENThe Gladwin Junior High girls’ track team placed sixth in the Large School Division at the Zone 7 regional meet last Monday at Brethren. The Flying G’s finished with 48 points, just one behind Meridian. Harbor Springs won the championship with 130.

MIDLANDThe schedule was pretty bumpy down the stretch and the season came to an end last Tuesday when the Beaverton soccer team lost 9-1 to host Midland Calvary Baptist in the first round of the Division 3 District Tournament.

MILLINGTONWith the district tournament approaching, the Beaverton baseball team decided to get used to the format by scheduling a trip to the Millington Tournament on Saturday.The Beavers responded to the pressure by winning two games and the championship.

FARWELLAfter playing eight Jack Pine Conference doubleheaders, the Gladwin baseball team was beginning to develop a splitting headache.The Flying G’s were not swept in any of them, which is good, but they came away with one win and one loss in six of them, which is frustrating.

WEST BRANCHThe first time the Beaverton soccer team faced Ogemaw Heights, the Beavers lost a 9-1contest that was never close.The two teams squared off again on Thursday to close out the regular season and the locals put up a better fight in a 4-0 loss.
