GLADWIN COUNTYThe Big Boys Club of Gladwin County will be hosting its 15th annual golf tournament at Gladwin Heights Golf Course on Aug. 2.The organization was formed about 25 years ago as the Wooden Shoe Big Boys.

CADILLACThe process went into overtime, but the Gladwin boys’ track team qualified for the state meet in a fifth event on Monday.The Flying G’s were at Cadillac for a Division 2 regional on Friday, but the meet was halted before the final event was completed, due to bad weather.

GLADWINThe 9 a.m. Wednesday morning “Fellas” golf league at Lakeside Golf Course is welcoming new players. This is a great 9-hole league with fun days, outings and no need to make up a round if you miss a week – just show up when you can play. Players of all skill levels welcome.

GLADWINThe Gladwin County Veterans’ Relief Fund Golf Outing will be held June 9 at Sugar Springs Golf Course.The annual event helps the Fund provide emergency help for Gladwin County veterans when they cannot get financial aid from other sources or programs.

PINCONNINGAfter rolling through the dual meets with a perfect record, the Gladwin girls’ track team capped off an outright championship Saturday with a dominating performance at the Jack Pine Conference Meet at Pinconning.The Flying G’s blew the field away, placing first with a total of 197.

Beaver baseball wins one, then drops three

BEAVERTONAn impressive win over Clare in the first game of last week did not generate any momentum for the Beaverton baseball team.The host Beavers beat the Pioneers 3-1 in the opener of a doubleheader last Wednesday, but went on to lose their next three games in a row.
