Gladwin hosting summer sports camps

GLADWINGladwin High School is offering a series of summer sports camps for young people in the community.Each camp is a fundraiser for the specific sports and money will go directly back into the program.

GJHS competes at Megastar Track Meet

TSHEPHERDhe Mid-Michigan Megastar Meet for junior high track athletes was held Thursday at Shepherd.Gladwin finished 20th with 14.5 points in a field of 42 teams that sent qualifiers to the Large School Girls’ Division.Arliena Grant finished second in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 8’6”.

GLADWINThe 31st Annual Bernard Barnes Baseball Invitational, sponsored by DeShano Construction, will be held June 13-15 at Gladwin High School’s Wilmot Field.The field consists of players who were 18-years-old or younger as of Dec. 31 of last year.

HAMILTONPole vaulter Drake Ross and long jumper Trace Corlew earned All-State honors for placing in the top eight in their events Saturday at the Division 2 MHSAA Finals at Hamilton.Ross cleared the bar at 14’1” to place fourth.Corlew was fifth with a leap of 21’10.5”.

HAMILTONAgreat season came to an exciting end for the Gladwin girls’ track team at the MHSAA Division 2 Finals Saturday at Hamilton.The Flying G’s finished with 13.

GLADWIN COUNTYThe Big Boys Club of Gladwin County will be hosting its 15th annual golf tournament at Gladwin Heights Golf Course on Aug. 2.The organization was formed about 25 years ago as the Wooden Shoe Big Boys.
